When did your business get started?
The concept of our store came about because it was pretty much impossible to find great retro tee shirts for ourselves and our son. We have tons of pictures and remember when we were kids wearing really cool tee shirts like Superman, the Smurfs, the 1980 Phillies, and other things that are totally stylish now, but were impossible to find, especially for kids! We were constantly looking online for anything remotely close but most shirts we found with a cool logo were on crappy tee shirts that would shrink, fray, or just weren't really comfortable. We eventually found a few vendors that only use super-soft materials with cool retro and vintage artwork. As we dug deeper we found a whole world of great apparel for boys, girls, men, women, and even babies that could even meet our strict requirements.
Many of the shirts, sweatshirts, and jackets we offer have specific meaning and stories behind their artwork as well. Like a Superman tee shirt that has the exact artwork from a Superman comic book cover issued in 1955, a Beatles toddler shirt that shows the cover of their Abby Road album cover in 1969, or a Phillies dugout jacket that is an exact replica of the one worn by the players after winning the 1980 World Series...just as a few examples. And we're more than just tee shirts! To outfit the entire family in funky threads, we also have awesome glam girly clothes, rocker wear, and cute jewelry/accessories. So with all of that, in June of 2010 Monkey's Uncle was born in the heart of downtown Doylestown.

Why did you choose the town you did to open your business?  
Doylestown has this old town Americana feel to it and we fell in love with the town before we even thought of opening our own business. 

What is your business best known for?
The coolest retro/vintage inspired sports, music, movie, and super hero tee shirts, from babies to adults.
 
What's something interesting about your business your customers might not know?
We have a very strong belief in giving back to our community, so much that on a monthly basis we work with various local charities and non-profits to help them raise funds, exposure, branding, awareness and more! We truly love our locals!
