Local Seniors Take Blimp Ride

The four seniors, all in their 80s and residents of Wesley Enhanced Living in Doylestown, rode on the Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey blimp

Four Doylestown seniors enjoyed the ride of a lifetime late last month.

Jack and Marion Soloski, Jim Maxwell and Doris Myers went for a blimp ride on Aug. 24, thanks to the Twilight Wish Foundation.

The four seniors, all in their 80s and residents of Wesley Enhanced Living in Doylestown, rode on the Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey blimp.

The blimp is one of just 25 in the world, according to information from the Twilight Wish Foundation.

The blimp took off from the Solberg-Hunterdon Airport in Whitehouse Station, N.J. The ride took them above Northern New Jersey; sights included the Manhattan skyline and the Delaware Water Gap.

The Twilight Wish Foundation, based in Doylestown, is a national nonprofit charitable organization that grants wishes to seniors. Since it was founded in 2003, Twilight Wish has granted more than 1,900 individual wishes to seniors throughout the country.

Wishes have been granted to seniors who are over 68 years old and have an income of less than 200 percent of the poverty level or who are residents of a nursing facility and cannot make their own wishes come true.
