Central Bucks East graduate Bri Kozior is among the top nine finalists on FOX's MasterChef cooking competition.

A 22-year-old Doylestown native is among the top nine finalists in FOX’s primetime cooking competition, MasterChef.

Bri Kozior, a 2008 Central Bucks East graduate, narrowly inched by in an elimination round during Wednesday’s episode after wowing the judges earlier in the show with a shrimp dish.

The show, which showcases the talents of home cooks nationwide, airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m.

Kozior, who spoke with Patch last month when the fourth season had just begun airing, is a vegetarian but has been impressing the judges with her ability to prepare meat.

Kozior, a theater assistant, said she auditioned on a whim after encouragement from friends. “I took a big chance,” she said. Auditions were held in New York in November. More than 30,000 others joined her in the nationwide auditions.

She was selected as one of the top 100 cooks and auditioned in front of the celebrity judges. Just 19 out of those 100 finalists made it through to be featured on the show, which was taped in Los Angeles.

“Overall, it’s just been the most amazing experience I’ve ever had,” Kozior said.
