Former Councilman Bill Stevens Passes Away
Doylestown Borough's Bill Stevens served 15 years on borough council.
Former Doylestown Councilperson Bill Stevens passed away on Sunday after a two-year battle with pancreatic cancer. William H. "Bill" Stevens III served two stints on borough council, the first from 1989 to 2001. In early 2010, he was appointed to fill a vacancy on the board created when council member John Buckman died. From 2010 to the end of 2011, Stevens was the lone Republican on council. In 2011, he stood for re-election, but was defeated by Democratic challenger Kevin Kelly. A U.S. Army veteran, Stevens was the longtime chair of borough council's finance committee He also was a member of the borough's youth advisory board.
