Temple Judea Moves to New Home

The members of Doylestown's Temple Judea walked about 2.5 miles Sunday to bring the Torah to their new synagogue on Rogers Road.

A new chapter began Sunday for the members of Temple Judea of Bucks County. The congregation met at the synagogue on Swamp Road in Doylestown, which has been their home since 1967. After a final ceremony there, they said their goodbyes to the old building, removed the five Torah scrolls from the Ark, and began the journey to their new home. Hundreds of men, women and children walked in a procession along Swamp Road and then down side roads to reach their new synagogue, 2.5 miles away, near the intersection of York and Rogers roads. Construction has been underway on the new synagogue for the past year.
