Fanny Chapman Pool to Mark its 86th Season

Doylestown's pool will open Saturday, May 25.

Doylestown's pool is preparing for another summer swim season. Fanny Chapman Memorial Pool will kick off its 86th season on Saturday, May 25, 2013, borough officials announced recently.   A fixture in Doylestown's summer traditions, the pool offers family and individual swim memberships, swim lessons for all ages, and swim and dive teams. A pool membership, whether family or individual, is required to participate is Fanny Chapman Pool programs. A family membership is $380 before May 5, and $420 after. Individual memberships are $210 or $225. Additional rates are available for students, seniors and caregivers. Mail in registration begins Monday, March 18. East Swimmers Beat Pennridge

The Central Bucks East boys and girls picked up yet another win this season over an underachieving Pennridge squad.

Coming into Thursday night's dual meet at home, Central Bucks East was still trying to find out exactly how good they were. They are one step closer to figuring that out, as both the boys and girls edged out a Pennridge team that has struggled this season. The East boys won 101-76, while the girls defeated the Rams 103-77. For the boys, Kevin Magee broke the East pool record in the 100 fly by nearly one second with a time of 52.18. The record of 53.07 was previously held by former East swimmer Marc Dilemmo. He also won two other events, the 100 fly and the backstroke. Their were a few other stand out swimmers for the Patriots, including Ty Kooser who won the 200 individual medley as well as the 100 yard breaststroke where he had a district…

East Swimmers Lose First Meet to Souderton

Despite the team loss, several swimmers performed well and even set a few pool records for the Patriots.

Both Central Bucks East boys and girls swimmers fell to Souderton on Tuesday but the boys managed to keep the final score close in their first meet of the season. The boys fell just short to one of their biggest rivals, by a final of 96-89, while the girls lost 103-83. "Overall, coach Walsh and I were happy with the results," Lady Patriots coach Tom Kane said, referring to boys' coach Ed Walsh. "Souderton was a tough opener for both teams. I felt that we swam with them all the way through the meet." Several swimmers on both teams gave stand out performances. For the girls, divers Kelly Kater and Adele Foley both qualified for districts. Foley lead the way, earning six points in the one meter dive. Kater followed right behind with four …
