School of Rock owner Michael Morpurgo wants to teach his students the importance of giving to those in need by partnering with The Doylestown Food Pantry this holiday season. "In the past we did some food drives. The response was so positive, we decided to top what we did last year by accepting non-perishable food donations at all of my schools," he said in a statement. During the months of November and December, The Doylestown School of Rock will once again be accepting non-perishable food donations for The Doylestown Food Pantry. The school's goal is to raise as much food as possible for those in need during the holiday season. To inspire your charity, Morpurgo has added an enticing twist, "Plus, anyone can come in and redeem their food…

The new Web-based reality show is casting musically inclined veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and will raise awareness of post-traumatic stress disorder.
Steve Holtzman knows the power of music firsthand. He’s watched his daughter, Julia, blossom from a “shy, retiring girl” to the lead singer in the house band at School of Rock in Cherry Hill, which teaches stagecraft and musicianship to young people. Holtzman believes music can have a similar impact on military veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). “If this is what could happen for a child,” he said of his 12-year-old daughter, “what could happen for an adult who might be feeling down or isolated?” Working with Lou Faiola, owner of the School of Rock in Cherry Hill, Holtzman is producing a Web-based reality show called Bands of Brothers. School of Rock also has a location in Doylestown. The premise: Twelve …

Musician and Doylestown School of Rock owner Michael Morpurgo spent 25 years honing his craft in concert venues around the world before he discovered the magic of teaching kids to play real, live rock shows. Now, he uses his Schools of Rock to instruct adults and kids age 7 to 17 on how to rock on stage and in life. In turn, Morpurgo has drawn up a new lesson plan for his students…how Rock and Roll can feed the hungry. “I was amazed when I heard how empty the local food banks are right now,” said Morpurgo. “So I decided to prove to my students that Rock and Roll is a way to make a difference.” To drive his point home, he is accepting non-perishable food donations at his school in Doylestown. His goal is to raise a half-ton of food for …

The Doylestown music school helps aspiring musicians to rock out.
The recent spate of hot, sizzling weather has sapped the energy of even the most die-hard fans of summer. But some youngsters on Saturday cranked up their own form of heat at Doylestown’s School of Rock. On this day, about a dozen kids showed up to jam with instructor J. P. Kuyper. They were part of the Rock 101 group, which combines private lessons on the basics of playing an instrument with a weekly group rehearsal session. “We have kids at all levels,” said Beca Dunst, general manager. Husband Tony Dunst is the school’s music director. “Some are just starting out and others might have five or more years of experience.” Right now, they have about 100 students between the ages of 8 to 18 signed up for courses such as Intro to Rock and …

Don't forget your neighbors here in Bucks County that have so much damage they can't afford to fix it and insurance doesn't cover the damage - example - we have 13-80to 100foot trees down in our yard that will cost 10,000 to clean up. we are out of luck so down the trees stay in what used to be a play area for our children - not to mention the 3 foot holes left by the trees being uprooted....   more ›
