Kids are encouraged to bring castle draws, ideas and Christmas wishes for the new playground.
Santa Claus is a busy guy this time of year, but he's still finding time to donate a few hours to the effort to save Kids Castle, the iconic play castle in Doylestown Township's Central Park. Santa will visit Kids Castle on Saturday, Dec. 8. As is Santa's tradition in Doylestown, he will arrive by fire truck, and is expected to appear at 9:30 a.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring a camera to get a free photo with Santa. The event is free, but families are asked to bring some coins for Santa's kettle; all proceeds will not only to go the effort to save Kids Castle, but Byers Choice will match all the donations that Santa gathers on Saturday. Santa's appearance is sponsored by Byers Choice Ltd. and Stark & Stark Attorneys at Law. The Save …

Santa Claus is coming to town. The Jolly Old Elf will return to Doylestown this Friday, Nov. 23. Santa traditionally rolls into town on the back of the Doylestown Fire Company’s antique fire truck the day after Thanksgiving. Local high school choirs usually sing, and the Doylestown Business and Community Alliance will once again be offering free cookies and apple cider on the front porch of the historic Fountain House (Starbucks). The event starts around 6 p.m., and Santa is expected to arrive around 6:30 p.m., said Joan Doyle, Doylestown Borough Council's liaison to the DBCA. "We hope that everyone will come out," Doyle said at Monday night's borough council meeting. "It is a community project, and wonderful cooperation between many …

Finally, the Internet reaches its potential - follow Santa's journey online in real-time.
For 364 days out of the year, the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) spends its time tracking airplanes, missiles, space ships—anything flying near the United States and Canada. But on Christmas Eve, a team of volunteers spends the night tracking a very special pilot: Santa Claus. "We are the only organization that has the technology, the qualifications and the people to do it," NORAD said on its website. "NORAD tracks Santa, but only Santa knows his route, which means we cannot predict where and when he will arrive at your house." Santa usually starts at the International Date Line in the Pacific Ocean and travels west, NORAD noticed, meaning he moves from the South Pacific to New Zealand, Australia, Asia, Africa and …

Take a look into the life of Shady Brook Farm's Santa Claus.
Bob Flemming became Shady Brook Farm's Santa four years ago. Though he was at first reluctant to become Santa, he now looks at the job as his exit strategy. He's retiring in January, but he said he plans on being Santa forever. His Santa transformation begins in August, he said, as he stops trimming his beard. From then on out, he shapes it to get it just so. The week after Christmas he shaves his beard and usually keeps it trimmed very short the rest of the year, "That's why I'm not one of those ZZ Top Santas," he said. Santa Bob even gets spotted in the off season, like on vacation in Florida, which he describes in the video. Watch to find out what kids ask for, if any one is getting a lump of coal, if he scopes out other Santas for …

The workload in Santa's workshop must be growing frenetic, because the big guy is taking a break this weekend to get some fresh air. Santa will be joining the volunteers from the Midway Fire Co. on Saturday for a tour of the company's service area. Two trucks will be circling the roads, Engine 15 and Engine 5. (If you've ever had to explain why there's a different Santa at every mall, use that explanation when your kids ask why there are two Santas on two trucks. Or just don't let them see the other truck. Whatever works.) Want to catch a glimpse of the main man? Here are the routes the two trucks will travel, beginning Saturday, Dec. 17 at noon: Colt Dr., Yearling Cr., Coach Dr., Clydesdale Dr., Rodeo Dr., Equestrian Dr., Foxbriar, …

Call it a tradition, a routine or just a force of habit, but most of us go to THAT Santa for our annual picture. The reasons can range from personal - you just "like" that one more, to pragmatic - it's the one that's closest to home. Whatever your reason, we hope you'll share two things. First - where DO you go to see Santa and why is that YOUR Santa? Second - share your Santa photo and spread some holiday cheer!

It wasn't sleigh bells that were ringing Friday night, it was sirens and flashing lights, as Santa Claus rolled into Doylestown on a fire truck. Hundreds of people lined the intersection of State and Main in the heart of the downtown Friday for the annual welcome party for Santa. The festivities kicked off at 6 p.m., with free hot cider and cookies for all. The Central Bucks High School West choir entertained the crowd, which grew in size as the minutes ticked away. The adults listened or sang along with favorites such as "Silent Night" and "Joy to the World," while the kids restlessly jostled for the best viewing position along the street. With a few bad jokes thrown in for good measure - "Where does Santa stay on vacation? A ho-ho-hotel…

Buckingham Township is covered by 3 fire companies- Lingohocken to the east, Midway north central and Doylestown southwest. Doylestown does not do a Santa run, as covering the over 25 miles of district (Doylestown Borough and Township, 1/3 of Buckingham, 1/2 of New Britian Borough and a small part of New Britian Township), is just not possible to cover it all. Buckingham Square is part of …   more ›
