The latest forecast for Doylestown greatly increases the amount of snow predicted in Friday's winter storm.
Winter Storm "Nemo" could bring 6 to 12 inches of snow to the Doylestown area Friday and Saturday. The latest forecast from the National Weather Service predicts that light snow will start after 2 a.m. on Friday. Snow and rain is expected throughout Friday before switching to all snow after about 4 p.m. Snow accumulation is expected to reach 1 to 3 inches on Friday, then another 5 to 9 inches overnight Friday into Saturday. That is a radical change from Thursday's forecast, which predicted far less snow for the Central Bucks County area. The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning for southeast Pennsylvania, including the Doylestown area at 3:20 p.m. on Thursday, predicting 4 to 8 inches of snow, with a trace of ice. The …

Flash flooding possible Thursday in wake of heavy rains.
Heavy rain swept into Central Bucks early Thursday, bringing with it the possibility of flash flooding. The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning, which will last until at least 6:45 a.m. Thursday. The warning covers most of southeastern Pennsylvania. A band of heavy storms swept through Central Bucks after midnight, bringing soaking rain and high winds. As much as an inch of rain was expected to fall within an hour, the weather service predicted. With ground still frozen from the winter, and less vegetation to take up the water, the rainfall is expected to lead to flash flooding. Creeks could flood, as could roadways, low-lying areas and those with poor drainage, the weather service predicted. Area emergency responders …

Will Tropical Storm Sandy hit the Mid-Atlantic or Northeast with heavy rain/snow, high winds and flooding?

Wednesday, October 24, 2012
Some computer models show that Tropical Storm Sandy could hit the Northeast - including eastern Pennsylvania - with fury early next week, which is the anniversary of last year's bizarre "Snowtober" storm. Sandy could bring rain, snow, high winds and possible storm-surge flooding to the Boston-to-Washington corridor in a "slingshot" scenario, in which the tropical storm (or hurricane) initially moves out to sea, but is captured by the jet stream and flung back to the Mid-Atlantic or Northeast, according to Climate Central's Andrew Freedman. Sandy could also simply move out to sea and that would be the end of it. The National Weather Service predicts no severe weather for the Bucks and Montgomery areas at this time, but states: "The remnants…

There is a 30 percent chance of scattered thunderstorms this evening. “Excessive heat” means that a prolonged period of dangerously hot temperatures will occur that could cause illness and dehydration.
