Santa Claus may be coming to Doylestown on Friday, but Santa Paws will be arriving on Dec. 1. The big man in red will return to Life on the Leash on Saturday, Dec. 1 for portrait sessions with dogs of all shapes and sizes. Hosted by the Friends of the Doylestown Dog Park, the event is a fundraiser for the newly opened park on Almshouse Road in Doylestown Township. The event gives pet owners the chance to have their dog‘s holiday pictures taken in a comfortable, pet-friendly and safe environment, organizers said. Last year's event brought out dozens of Doylestown dogs, including Murphy (Heather Walton), Baxter (Jeff Lugar) and more. Photo sessions this year will run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the boutique at 42 East State St. Photo backdrops…

Stan’s Vitamins in town keeps a canister of doggie treats under its counter. The owner of Vintage brings her dog to work with her. So does Schade, which seems a given since she owns Life on the Leash, a store catering to the four-legged kind. While her store would be perfect for shopping with Fifi or Fido, there are at least 15 downtown merchants who would love…

School's out early Friday, so head on over to some of Doylestown's shops for a little fun and games. While you're having fun, you'll be raising money for a good cause.

About eight downtown shops are offering games, crafts or special treats to students ages 5 and older who come into their stores between 1:30 and 4:30 p.m. Proceeds collected will then be donated to the American Red Cross for its efforts in aiding the tsunami victims in Japan. While the idea itself is laudable, the effort behind the idea is literally fun and games. “It’s just a fun thing for people to do, and bring their …

I had no idea other businesses allowed dogs in, so this is a great way for them to get the word out.   more ›
