It will be the last time Kids Castle will be open for playtime before being closed for a months-long refurbishment.
If your kids love Kids Castle, they've got one more chance to play there before it closes for months. Kids Castle, in Doylestown Township's Central Park, is in need of repair, refurbishment and replacement. It will close in a few weeks for the upgrade project to commence; organizers hope to see the Castle reopen in June. To mark the playground's closing, have fun, and raise some more money for the restoration effort, the Save Kids Castle committee will host an egg hunt and "wrap party." It will take place on Saturday, March 23 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Kids Castle Playground at 425 Wells Road, Doylestown. Organizers said the egg hunt will be organized by age groups: Families can enjoy complimentary snacks and beverages as well as arts…
The volunteer group working to save the iconic playground in Doylestown Township is holding a public meeting on Feb. 28.
News that the iconic playground Kids Castle needs repair work has galvanized many community members - but has scared others. Volunteers leading the effort to raise money to restore the multi-storied castle playground say rumors have begun spreading that the castle is going to close forever and not reopen. So, to combat the spread of the rumors, the group is inviting the public to a town hall-style meeting to talk about the project. "We really just want to get the message out there about what we're trying to do, which is save Kids Castle for future generations," said Joe Salvati, who is helping to handle communications for the volunteer group. The Friends of Kids Castle will introduce Salvati and the other volunteers who are directing the …

Good news for Kids Castle supporters. "The Mercer tile artwork that went missing at the Castle was returned, no questions asked," said Shawn Touhill. "So we’re grateful to have that back." Touhill is a Doylestown Township supervisor and volunteer helping in the effort to save the iconic playground in Central Park. Michelle Roemer Schoen, publicity chair of the volunteer group Save Kids Castle, confirmed Thursday that the two missing tiles had been returned. The culprits have a few days to return the artwork, no questions asked, but after that, the "Knights of Kids Castle" will be on patrol.
Unknown thieves have stolen three-foot replicas of Henry Mercer's fall and winter tiles from their home at Kids Castle in Doylestown Township's Central Park. The culprits have until Friday at 4 p.m. to return the artwork, no questions asked. The theft, however, has prompted the formation of a new community watch group to patrol the playground, which is undergoing a restoration effort. "Although this is disappointing, this will not deter us from our mission and only makes our drive stronger to engage the community to help us save the Castle from vandals and thieves like this," said Dawn Byers, one of the leaders of the Save Kids Castle group organizaing the effort to restore the playground. The theft was discovered Sunday morning when …

Kids are encouraged to bring castle draws, ideas and Christmas wishes for the new playground.
Santa Claus is a busy guy this time of year, but he's still finding time to donate a few hours to the effort to save Kids Castle, the iconic play castle in Doylestown Township's Central Park. Santa will visit Kids Castle on Saturday, Dec. 8. More than 80 people have come together to raise money to repair, restore and replace parts of the iconic Kids Castle playground, but more are needed.
Annie Biedermann has grown up with Kids Castle and wants other young children to be able to do so as well. When the 12-year-old's dad told her that the iconic playground in Doylestown's Central Park was deteriorating and in need of repair, she didn't hesitate. "When my dad asked if I wanted to help save it, I immediately said yes. It has been a major part of my life and it’s very important to me," Biedermann told Doylestown Township supervisors Tuesday night. Annie, a 7th grader at Lenape Middle School, is now on the Save Kids Castle middle-school committee. She is one of more than 80 people who have stepped forward to serve on committees to organize efforts to save the 7-story play castle. The effort still needs more leaders, though, …

Come to Kids Castle in Doylestown's Central Park tonight to find out how to help save the iconic playland.
Fifteen years of small feet hiding and seeking, sliding and jousting, and pounding up and down hidden stairways have taken their toll on the "crown jewel" of Doylestown-area parks. Built in 1997 through a massive community-wide effort, Kids Castle in Doylestown Township's Central Park is reaching the end of its lifespan. If it is to survive for future generations of children, it needs help now. That was the message from one woman Tuesday night at the Doylestown Township supervisors' meeting. And it will be the message she and other volunteers will share tonight at a meeting - a rally, of sorts - at Kids Castle. Dawn Byers went before the township supervisors Tuesday to ask their blessing in moving forward with a campaign to rally …
