Hatboro Rejects Ban on Anti-Gay Discrimination

Human rights ordinance fails when borough council cannot overturn mayor's veto.

The issue attracted about 60 proponents and opponents of the ban. Hatboro resident Tim Newborn, who spoke in favor of the ordinance and shot video of Tuesday night's meeting, said the council's failure to override Hawkes' veto would create more "visibility" of the issue. Human Relations Commission Field Cut to 13

Three of the 16 original applicants to Doylestown's new Human Relations Commission have been disqualified and a fourth still may be.

Three of the people who applied to sit on Doylestown Borough's new Human Relations Commission do not meet the residency or work requirements. A fourth also may not be eligible, borough manager John Davis said Wednesday. Town leaders are awaiting more information from that person. That leaves Doylestown with 12 confirmed applicants of the 16 who originally had applied to sit on the commission. Rules require that the commission members live or work in Doylestown Borough. One applicant's employer, Keenan Honda, is outside the borough border, and another didn't realize there was a residency/employment requirement, while a third "considers Doylestown his town and was hoping that sufficed," Davis said. The confirmed applicants include borough …
