Quick-Moving Fire Destroys Chalfont Home

No one was injured when a fire broke out at a home in Chalfont, but the house was destroyed.

No one was injured but a home was destroyed by a fire in Chalfont on Tuesday. The fire broke out at 209 Hampshire Dr., Chalfont, around 2 p.m. Chalfont Fire Department Chief Dennis McGuire said firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke and fire coming from the home. Firefighters had the blaze out by about 2:30 p.m., but the fire had moved fast, wreaking widespread damage. "It was under control pretty fast, but it was a lot of fire," McGuire told Patch. "Structurally, the house looks ok, but the interior is a loss. It's uninhabitable." The fire started in the kitchen area of the home, McGuire said. The owner's son was home when the fire started but was able to escape unharmed, the chief said. The cause of the fire still is under …

Firefighters Battle Blaze in Plumstead

A fire destroyed a home on Jillian Way in Plumstead Township Thursday afternoon.

A fast-moving fire destroyed a home in Plumstead Township Thursday afternoon. Fire companies were called to a house fire in the 5400 block of Jillian Way. The fire began shortly after 3 p.m. and by 3:30 p.m., firefighters on the scene were calling for more assistance. Responding firefighters arrived to find the fire well advanced. Firefighters were able to keep the blaze from spreading, but the fire destroyed the home.
