East Swimmers Split Meet with Hatboro-Horsham

The ladies picked up their second win of the season, but the boys came up short.

The Central Bucks East High School swim teams notched one win and one loss against Hatbor0-Horsham this week. The Lady Patriots defeated the Hatters on the road 111-74, but the boys did not fare as well, losing 104-79. "Hatboro has always been a very competitive meet, and today was no exception," girls coach Thomas Kane said after the win. The team was a bit smaller than usual, as Mackenzie Hubing and Chrissy Maragakes were both out of the lineup due to sickness. But that didn't slow the team down as they picked up their second consecutive win. "It was a great effort. Despite missing two swimmers, the rest of the team picked them up and we came out with a big win," Kane added. The girls were lead by Katie Demptser, who placed first in …

Patriots Girls Ready to Dive into New Season

Central Bucks East will rely on depth this season.

With 25 members returning from last season, the Central Bucks East girls swim team dives into its regular season Tuesday against Souderton. Last year, the team finished at 7-4, good enough for a third place in the Continental Conference of the Suburban One League. The Patriots are one of the conference's big question marks, and coach Tom Kane hopes the new team members can provide depth to make up for the girls they lost last season. "We have got to work harder to replace the members we lost last year," Kane said. "We're proud of our winning tradition here at East, especially since our conference is the strongest in the area."
