The canteen truck from Doylestown helped provide refreshments to firefighters from several area companies who battled the fire.
No one was injured when flames tore through a house in the 1100 block of Log College Drive in Warminster Thursday afternoon. Warminster Fire Marshal Dan Laurich said his office is investigating the possibility that lightning struck the home just before the fire. Storms were moving through the township at around 4 p.m. "A heard a boom just before I saw the fire trucks," said a neighbor at the scene, who did not wish to have her name published. Arriving firefighters and police reported heavy flames coming from the house. The fire marshal said the residents were home at the time of fire and had escaped from the house, which was later rendered uninhabitable by the blaze. Area firefighters had an unexpected obstacle to face on the way to a fire Thursday night - cows. A report went out around 9:30 p.m. Thursday of a fire in the 100 block of Meadow Lane, near Kellers Church Road in Bedminster Township. Though townships closer to Doylestown have surrendered most of their farmland to housing developments, Bedminster remains happily rural, and is home to many farms and fields. Firefighters heading to the scene of Thursday's blaze had to be "advised to use caution coming up the road due to numerous cows crossing the roadway," according to emergency reports. The fire reportedly ended up being in an front-end loader that had been parked inside a barn at a dairy farm. According to emergency reports, the equipment …

Red Cross volunteers on Saturday returned to the neighborhood where a late September fire killed a Buckingham woman, destroyed two homes and damaged two others. Carol McKissock, 66, was injured in the fire that started on Sept. 29 at her home on Milords Lane. She was treated at Temple University’s burn unit, but died Oct. 16 from her injuries. The fire destroyed McKissock’s home and spread to three neighboring houses, destroying one and damaging the two others. Red Cross volunteers walked through McKissock’s neighborhood Saturday morning handing out 9-volt batteries for smoke alarms. Missing smoke detectors or smoke detectors without a working battery are the leading cause of fire deaths, the group said. The Red Cross said it conducts such…
