Girl Killed in Thanksgiving Eve Crash in Doylestown

A 10-year-old girl from Pipersville was killed and three others injured, one critically, in a crash on the Rt. 611 Bypass in Doylestown.

A 10-year-old girl from Pipersville lost her life and three others were fighting for theirs Wednesday night after a car crash on the Rt. 611 Bypass in Doylestown. The crash happened at 6:46 p.m. in the northbound lanes of the Bypass near the Broad Street exit, said Lt. Matt O'Connor, of the Doylestown Township Police. The girl was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman who was driving the Honda CRV the girl was in was flown to Temple University Hospital, O'Connor said. She was believed to be in extremely critical condition late Wednesday, police said. DelVal Establishes Veterans Center in Honor of Janet Manion

College pledges to provide “aid, comfort, and friendship” for veterans through the Janet Manion Military and Veterans Center

Using a Veterans Day program as the backdrop, Delaware Valley College officials on Monday afternoon announced the formation of a new center for military veterans and their dependents. Named in honor of the late Janet Manion, the center will be a one-stop shop to help veterans transition to civilian life, according to college President Dr. Joseph Brosnan. The center, to be located in Lasker Hall, will be available to veterans, active military and military families, offering information, referrals and support. “Its primary mission will be to enhance the school experience of our military heroes and their dependents,” Brosnan told the audience gathered in the Moumgis Auditorium in the DelVal Student Center.  "Our commitment must be to serve …

Joan Doyle grabbed lunch with friends at Coach's Steak and Hoagie House, on Tuesday and plugged her cell phone into the wall to charge. Carol Counihan drove around in her car the day after Hurricane Sandy so her phone could recharge on her car charger. Finding warm food, coffee and a place to recharge electronics has been a challenge in Central Bucks after Hurricane Sandy pummelled the area on Monday. Will Sandy Cancel Trick or Treating?

Doylestown Borough officials said they have no authority over trick-or-treating, so the decision is up to parents.

UPDATE Wed. 11:20 a.m. Warrington Township has postponed Trick or Treating until Saturday, Nov. 3 from 2 pm - 5 pm. Buckingham Township is not postponing Trick or Treating. The neighborhoods of Devonshire and Cold Spring Hunt plan to go tonight, Supervisor Jon Forest said. Doylestown Township "Nobody's cancelling trick or treating," said Supervisor Barb Lyons. "It's going to be a neighborhood by neighborhood decision." The neighborhood of Doylestown Lea reportedly has decided to postpone Trick or Treating until Friday.   Hurricane Sandy knocked out power to hundreds of thousands of people in Bucks County and closed schools and business. UPDATE 12:16 a.m. Tuesday - More than 77,760 customers in Bucks County are without power now; PPL, 21,769; Met ED, 5,991, and PECO, more than 50,000. No estimates are available on when power might be restored. UPDATE 9:43 p.m. - All PECO crews are pulling all bucket trucks off the road until at least midnight, then will re-evaluate the situation. Bucks County Pumpkinfest Draws Big Crowds to Doylestown

Artists use their creativity and imagination to carve eye-catching designs for admiring fans.

When he first visited the Bucks County Pumpkinfest five years ago, Matt Derby knew right away that he wanted to enter the carving competition. He finally got his chance this year, joining 20 other carvers under bright sunshine and warm temperatures at the Moravian Pottery & Tile Works in Doylestown. Starting at noon and working diligently with his wife Erin’s guidance, Derby carefully carved away at the gigantic pumpkin, slowly revealing the familiar American Gothic scene with a decidedly zombie look. “I love Halloween,” said the Newtown resident and art teacher at Bordentown Middle School in New Jersey. “It’s a big part of my life. Wondering where to go to watch the inaugural cycling race through bucolic Bucks County? Here's some advice.

If you're wondering where the best places to catch the action from the inaugural Bucks County Classic might be, organizers have some tips. At the start in New Hope: 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. - see the riders and the team cars up close. Carversville: in the heart of the action - see the racers come flying through town while having a drink at the Carversville Inn Top of the hill on Wismer road (parking is available): watch real pro racing up a tough climb - not to be missed!  Point Pleasant: Apple-Jack is hosting a race party Lumberville: the County Store is hosting a pig roast - valet parking is available At the finish in Doylestown: watch the leaders sprint for the finish at Court and Main. Racers are expected into town between 2:30 and 3 p.m.

Part of East Court to be Closed

The road closure in Doylestown Borough starts September 17.

Part of East Court Street will be closed to traffic and parking will be prohibited for about two weeks, Doylestown Borough government said Thursday. The road will be closed between Main and Broad streets beginning Monday, September 17, the borough said. The project is expected to last about two weeks, they said. The street will be open to traffic in the evenings throughout the project, the borough said, and parking will be allowed on weekends, from Friday evenings through Sunday nights. The closure is needed to allow PECO to install a new gas main for the Bucks County Justice Center, which is under construction at the site on North Main Street.

Naked Doylestown Man Arrested After Gnawing on Woman’s Head

A 20-year-old Doylestown man has been arrested in northern Pennsylvania after stripping naked, jumping out a window and attacking a woman walking nearby.

  Naked, screaming and bloody from jumping out a second-story window, a Doylestown man has been arrested in northern Pennsylvania after attacking a woman and “gnawing on her head,” according to state police there. Richard Cimino Jr., 20, of Doylestown is in custody and faces multiple charges in connection to the attack, which Pennsylvania State Police said occurred Friday. The bizarre attack happened in the borough of Hawley in Wayne County in northern Pennsylvania. State Trooper David Aulisio told Doylestown Patch Wednesday night that the incident happened between 4:30 and 5:15 a.m. on Hudson Street in the tiny town, which is home to about 1,200 people.
