Winter Storm Could Bring Snow to Doylestown

A winter storm is expected to move in Wednesday morning.

A storm that has moved across the Midwest could bring more severe winter weather to Doylestown than first predicted. Mixed snow and rain is expected to move in Wednesday morning and last throughout the day. The storm could bring 3 to 5 inches of snow to Bucks County, the National Weather Service predicted Tuesday afternoon. Winds could reach 20 to 30 miles an hour, with gusts of up to 50 miles an hour, though the strongest gusts likely will be along the New Jersey coast, the weather service said. The mixture of rain and snow along with high winds could lead to power outages, the service said in a winter storm watch. 'Nemo' Could Bring 6 to 12 Inches of Snow

The latest forecast for Doylestown greatly increases the amount of snow predicted in Friday's winter storm.

Winter Storm "Nemo" could bring 6 to 12 inches of snow to the Doylestown area Friday and Saturday. The latest forecast from the National Weather Service predicts that light snow will start after 2 a.m. on Friday. Snow and rain is expected throughout Friday before switching to all snow after about 4 p.m. Snow accumulation is expected to reach 1 to 3 inches on Friday, then another 5 to 9 inches overnight Friday into Saturday. That is a radical change from Thursday's forecast, which predicted far less snow for the Central Bucks County area. Rain Should Clear Before Saturday's Car Show

Friday's weather doesn't look great for Doylestown, but weather forecasts say Saturday should be better.

Grab an umbrella if you're heading out today to the opening of the annual 40 Art sale in Doylestown. Friday is going to be grey and rainy, according to the Doylestown weather forecast from weather.com. The service is calling for showers and possibly a thunderstorm, and says some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Temperatures are expected to reach a high near 73 with an east wind around 14 mph. Saturday, though, the skies are expected to clear in time for the Doylestown at Dusk car show. The show, which is free to the public, starts at 5 p.m. The forecast for Saturday is a chance of showers before 2 p.m., then mostly cloudy with a low around 60. Thunderstorm Knocks Out Power, Downs Trees

A downed tree blocked traffic on Cold Spring Creamery Road and train service to Doylestown had to be suspended for a time.

The Doylestown area, like much of Bucks County, was hit by a severe thunderstorm Thursday afternoon. The storm passed through Lower Bucks early in the afternoon, before moving north at about 15 miles an hour, according to the national weather service. It hit the Doylestown area around 2:30 p.m. The storm knocked down a tree on Cold Spring Creamery Road in Buckingham, blocking lanes of travel. Train service on the Lansdale/Doylestown line had to be suspended around 3 p.m. SEPTA cited "storm-related power problems."
