Doylestown Twp Tax Rate to Remain Steady

Supervisors agreed not to raise the tax rate for 2013.

Doylestown Township residents will pay the same township property taxes in 2013 and they did in 2012. The township board of supervisors on Tuesday unanimously approved next year's budget with no tax increase. The township property tax rate will remain set at 10.25 mills, the same as it was in 2012. That means the owner of a home assessed at the township average of $40,000 will pay about $410 in property taxes to the township. In 2011, the tax rate went up by 3 mills, from 7.25 to 10.25 mills. The increase of about 41 percent was the first General Fund tax increase since 1988. The 2013 budget lays out revenues of about $11.87 million and expenses of about $12.39 million. Doylestown Shop Donates Bike to Police

Doylestown Bike Works helped equip the township's new bike patrol officer.

  When Brian Boger read that the Doylestown Township police department was thinking about creating a bike patrol, he knew just the people who could help - the owners of the Doylestown Bike Works. Thankfully for the police, Boger didn't have much trouble convincing the owners to donate a bicycle to the new patrol. It was an easy sell, given that he is one of the owners. "When we learned what (the police) needed, we knew we could help." Boger told Doylestown Patch on Thursday. Boger and Fran Taloricco co-own the newest bicycle speciality shop to come to Doylestown.
