Borough Police Chief's Son Sworn in as Warminster Chief

Doylestown Borough's police chief and his son have become the first father-son team to occupy those offices in Bucks County.

In a meeting room packed with his family, friends and co-workers, Warminster's new Chief of Police James Donnelly III was sworn into his new office Thursday night at the township's board of supervisors meeting. With the promotion, Donnelly and his father, James Donnelly Jr., Doylestown Borough's police chief, have become the first father-son team to occupy those offices in Bucks County. Donnelly III was appointed acting chief when former Warminster Police Chief Michael Murphy left his post to become chief of police for the Upper Moreland Police Department. "Lt. String of Thefts Strike Maple Avenue Area

Five separate victims reported items stolen last Friday night to Doylestown Borough police.

Several thefts were reported in the area of Maple Avenue, Linden Avenue, and Maple Lane during the overnight hours of Friday, May 3 into Saturday, May 4, according to the Doylestown Borough Police Department. The first victim reported that approximately $5 in coins was removed from the center console of her unlocked vehicle, which was parked on the 500 block of Linden Avenue. A second victim reported that a pair of prescription sunglasses, a first aid kit, and approximately $1 in coins were removed from her unlocked vehicle, which was parked in her driveway on the 500 block of Maple Avenue. Teen Receives Threatening Text Messages, Police Report

Text messages to a 16-year-old girl threatened her family if she did not send suggestive photos of herself, according to the Doylestown Borough Police Department.

The following incident reports were provided by the Doylestown Borough Police Department: A 16-year old girl of the tens block of Clinton Street reported that she received numerous text messages on April 12 between 12:41 p.m. and approximately 4:15 p.m. where the caller threatened to harm the victim’s friends and family members if the victim did not send the caller “sexy” pictures of herself. Driving Under the Influence   A 22-year-old Doylestown man was arrested on April 13 at approximately 2:26 a.m. after the vehicle he was driving was stopped for allegedly traveling above the posted speed limit on State Street in the area of Clinton Street. 6 DUIs Reported in One Weekend

Doylestown Borough Police roundup six for DUI and one for public drunkenness and one for drug violations last weekend.

Driving Under the Influence A 19-year-old Warrington man was arrested on March 29 at approximately 12:43 a.m. after the vehicle he was driving was stopped for allegedly making an illegal turn onto E. State Street from Main Street, traveling the wrong direction on the one-way roadway. During the traffic stop, a strong odor of marijuana was noted in the vehicle, and the driver was showing signs of intoxication. He was asked to perform field sobriety tests, which he failed. He was transported to Doylestown Hospital for legal blood. He faces additional charges for drug violations after officers observed a small amount of marijuana, a grinder, and two pipes commonly used for smoking marijuana in the center console of the vehicle.   Driving …

Dog May Have Saved Home From Burglar

A burglar attempted to break into a North Street home through the back door, Doylestown Borough police report.

A resident of the 300 block of North Street reported that someone tried to break in to her home on March 28 at approximately 11:22 a.m. while she was in a second-floor bedroom. The victim said she heard glass breaking at the back of the house, and her dog began barking. She found a pane of glass in the kitchen door was broken. The burglar did not make entry into the home. The preceding information was supplied by the Doylestown Police Department.

8 Thefts Reported in Doylestown

Garden tools, seat cushions, digital camera, iron bench and more go missing, Doylestown Borough police report.

Theft A resident of the tens block of S. Clinton Street reported that someone removed a large folding table, two metal flower boxes, along with several shutters and garden tools from his rear yard. In addition, a concrete bench on the rear patio was damaged. The damage was reported on Thursday, March 28 at approximately 7:30 p.m. The missing items are valued at approximately $225. Theft A resident of the tens block of Jackson Street reported that someone stole two chair cushions and a wrought iron plant stand from her front porch sometime during the night  of Friday, March 29 into Saturday, March 30. 3 Thefts and a Burglary Reported in Doylestown

License plate, hand tools and flat screen TV stolen, reports Doylestown Borough police.

Theft A license plate was stolen from a vehicle parked in the Plaza East lot sometime between 9 p.m. on Thursday, March 21 and 9:30 a.m. on Friday. Theft An employee at Central Bucks High School West reported that someone stole a jacket from a break room near the loading dock area sometime between 3 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. on Friday, March 22. The jacket had various hand tools in the pockets. Theft A resident of the 200 block of Beek Street reported that someone removed a digital camera and approximately $20 in coins from his unlocked vehicle sometime between 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 23 and 11:50 a.m. on Sunday, March 24. Serial Texter Threatens 16-Year-Old for Nude Photos

Doylestown Borough Police investigates two reports from girls getting text messages that try to coerce them into sending nude photos.

A 16-year old girl on Hillside Avenue reported to police that she received a text message on March 8 at 2:30 a.m. that threatened to harm the victim’s younger brother if she did not send the caller nude pictures of herself. This follows the same scenario of another reported incident in February, and Doylestown Borough Police Chief Jim Donnelly says it’s probably the same perpetrator. The messages are routed through several server IP addresses and the police need a court order to trace the messages through each one, slowing the investigation. “You need to be tech savvy beyond what a normal teenager would do,” Donnelly said. “I think it’s probably the same person sending the texts.” In the previous case, the messages threatened "the welfare …

Purse, Bicycle, Handicapped Placard Stolen

Doylestown Borough Police investigate several recent thefts including a teen's wallet that had $200 inside.

Doylestown Borough Police are investigating several recent reports of theft. In the first incident, a resident of Wesley Enhanced Living reported that someone stole a purse from her apartment on Friday, March 1 sometime between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. The purse contained the victim’s insurance card, driver’s license, a debit card, and a store credit card. The victim reported that her debit card had been used four times in the Philadelphia area between the time of theft and reporting the incident on Monday, March 4. In a second incident, a handicap parking placard was stolen from a vehicle parked on Mary Street on Thursday, Feb. 28.
