Cold Spring Elementary School is $1,000 richer, thanks to the talents of its music director and choir. The local kids made it to the finals of the B101 Christmas Choir Competition. Though they didn't take first place, they did place third. That earned them the third place prize of $1,000 cash. Taking first place was Saint Katharine Drexel Regional Catholic School's concert choir singing "Angels We Have Heard On High." Second place went to Haverford Middle School's "7th Heaven" singing "Carol of the Bells." Cold Spring performed the song "Hot Chocolate," from the 2004 holiday movie, The Polar Express. Under the direction of music teacher Mike Gruver, the choir performed the song and recorded it at the Middle Bucks Institute of Technology. …

A Central Bucks elementary school could win a new piano and a chance to perform with Peter Nero and the Philly Pops.
Get your clicker fingers ready. Voting begins at 7:15 a.m. and runs through 9 p.m. today (Thursday, Dec. 6) in the final round of the B101 Christmas Choir Competition. Cold Spring Elementary's 6th grade chorus won a semi-final round on Monday of the annual competition, sending them into the final round on Thursday. They will face off against Haverford Middle School and the third semi-finalist, which will be announced on the radio station's morning show around 7 a.m. Visit the station's contest website to vote for the local school; you may vote as many times as you like. "Hot Chocolate" could win some hot prizes - and bragging rights - for one Central Bucks elementary school. Cold Spring Elementary's 6th grade chorus won the semi-final round Monday of an annual competition, sending them into the final round on Thursday. Six more schools from southeastern Pennsylvania and southern New Jersey still are competing in the remaining semi-final rounds of the B101 Christmas Choir Competition. The winners from Tuesday's and Wednesday's rounds will go on to the finals on Thursday. Stay tuned on Thursday morning to begin voting for Cold Spring on the station's contest website. Voting ran all day Monday for the Central Bucks School District's entry in the B101 Christmas Choir competition.
By early Tuesday morning, the Cold Spring Elementary School 6th grade chorus should know if it made the finals in the 2012 B101 Christmas Choir competition. The Buckingham school chorus' version of "Hot Chocolate" was selected as one of nine semi-finalists, and voting ran all day Monday. Cold Spring was up against Christ The King Regional Grammar School and Country Day School of the Sacred Heart. Click here to go to the voting page. Voting closed at 9 p.m. Monday.
