The Housing Continuum and Care agency counted more than 150 unsheltered people living in Bucks County.
One day before starting the official count of unsheltered people living in Bucks County, volunteer Deborah Neidhart asked a staff member at one of the Central Bucks libraries if she knew of any homeless people in the area. Neidhart said the woman was shocked and denied that there were any homeless people at all in the area. "If you are not exposed to it, if you don't see it, then you really don't know that it exists," she said. "It's more invisible in Central Bucks than anywhere else in the county." It's a common misconception that Neidhart encounters, that only the lower part of Bucks County has a homeless population. It's a myth that Neidhart needs to shatter if she and the rest of her team hope to get an accurate count. "The camps are …

The church held an open house Saturday so members and the community could see the results of the more than yearlong building project.
Balloons and Berenstain Bears signaled a celebration at Doylestown Presbyterian Church Saturday. Church members and the community were invited to check out the renovations that focused on two buildings – the church sanctuary and Andrews Hall. Congregants are in the second of a three-year capital campaign to pay for the $9 million venture and other works. Andrews Hall at Church and Mechanics streets received a major overhaul, with a new façade along the Church Street side, new classrooms, office space and a nursery that is now easily accessible from the church because of the pedestrian bridge that links the two buildings together. Worship services were relocated to Andrews Hall while the Sanctuary was renovated. Services resumed in the …

Check on your neighbors this week - temps are going to drop.
If you don't already know your neighbors well, today might be a good time to go knock on their doors and say hello. Why? Because it's going to be pretty cold the next couple days, and one of the best ways to ensure that everyone is safe is just to pay attention. "It's never a bad thing just to knock on the door and say hello and make sure everything's ok," Lt. Pat Penecale said Monday. "These are some simple neighborly things that seem to have gotten lost over time. This week's not a bad time to start them back up again." Bitter winds and dropping temperatures are expected to sweep into the Central Bucks area tonight and linger through Wednesday. The National Weather Service is predicting temperatures of about 20 degrees overnight in …
