Building CB East Stadium: It's all About the Money

Decades in the planning, the stadium for Central Bucks High School East seems to be getting more support, but is the school board willing to pay for it?

To build a stadium or not to build a stadium, that has been the question in CB East since 1999, but now there’s a glimmer of hope. Last month, the Central Bucks School Board agreed to hold a town meeting about the proposed stadium, which was held Tuesday. One of the issues is parity; that is, CB East wants a stadium just as CB West and CB South have theirs. School director Tyler Tomlinson said that building the stadium would go a long way to fulfilling the district's promise to give every Central Bucks student the same education and experiences. "It's really difficult when every game is an away game," Tomlinson said last month, referring to CB East students who must travel to other schools to play. On Tuesday, CB East Principal told the …

Sheesh! My point was/is that no matter how smart or educated you are or where you went to school, you need to edit your work before you criticize that of others or imply that their school is inferior because they made some errors. I try to follow my own advice, btw, but I ain't perfect either. . . .   more ›

Do You Want a Stadium at CB East?

The Central Bucks School District will hold a town hall meeting to discuss the possibility of building a stadium at CB East.

The Central Bucks school board on Tuesday agreed to hold a town hall meeting to give the public an opportunity to ask questions and make comments about a proposed stadium for CB East. The meeting will be held on Tuesday March 19 at Lenape Valley Middle School at 7 p.m.  Superintendent Dr. Rodney Green gave the board a quick overview of the project's history and where it currently stands. The district submitted plans for the stadium to Buckingham Township officials in 1999. After extensive review, debate and revisions, township supervisors approved a land development plan in December 2002. But in 2003, neighbors Jeff and Mary Bretz filed a lawsuit over the project, launching what Bucks County Judge Clyde Waite would call in 2011 a "…

EVERY HS has a stadium. The stadium represents community, ...competition, sportsmanship...collaboration. The electricity built from sports breeds a life times of memories. Every school in the SOL has the own field, CB East deserves a place for the entire school to come together and graduation, and celebrate the numerous sports that will be taking part there. Education....is not just academic…   more ›

Stadium Project Back on the Table for CB East

The Central Bucks School District may move ahead with a project to build a sports stadium at its high school in Buckingham.

CB East may get a sports stadium after all. After years of court cases and debate, the Central Bucks School District on Tuesday will once again take up the idea of building a stadium at the high school in Buckingham. The school board is set to discuss the project at its meeting at 7:30 p.m. District officials have recommended holding a town hall meeting, and have suggested a date of Tuesday, March 19, at 7 p.m. at the Lenape Middle School auditorium. "We are thinking a public hearing town hall meeting would be appropriate to bring this issue to the community," says the memo attached to Tuesday's school board agenda. The stadium project was added to the district's long-range capital improvement plan last year.  A design team estimated the …

I find it funny that a lot of the comments seem to limit the use of a stadium to football. As one of the above comments above indicated football is only one of the uses. Athletic teams from both the high school and middle school will use the facility along the band, cheerleading squads and several club activities. Safety for all of the students in case of emergencies is also a factor. A stadium …   more ›
