Buckingham Township also will offer Christmas tree recycling this year.
Buckingham residents, don't trash that tree. Buckingham residents, too, will be able to give new life to their Christmas trees this year. The township will once again offer tree recycling. Residents can drop off their Christmas trees at the Buckingham Township Water Department maintenance building at 4124 Mechanicsville Road; it's on the corner of Mechanicsville and Church School roads. Trees may be dropped off at any time. In past years, township workers have taken the trees to the roads maintenance department building and chip them. Wood chips from the trees are made available to residents for home use in the spring, officials said. We told you recently about the tree recycling details in Doylestown Borough and Doylestown Township, too…

Trees fell, utility poles snapped and several township neighborhoods still are without power.
Devonshire Estates didn't lose power during Hurricane Sandy, and some other Buckingham Township residents got power back Tuesday or Wednesday, said township supervisor Jon Forest. But while life has been fairly normal for some Buckingham neighborhoods, others still were without power on Wednesday and anxiously awaiting restoration. Like those in every other Bucks County municipality, Buckingham leaders have spent the past two days evaluating damage caused by Hurricane Sandy. And again like most other municipalities, the damage mainly was caused by downed trees and utility poles. "We still have a lot of places without power, but we were very fortunate, considering what happened to the jersey shore and New York," Forest said. "Fortunately we…

Burnt House Hill bridge in Buckingham Township has been closed since it was damaged by flooding in September 2011.
A bridge in Buckingham Township that has been closed for a year is set to re-open in October. Part of Burnt House Hill Road was closed in September 2011 after PennDOT inspectors found a large hole in the side of the stone arch bridge that carries the road over a small creek. Repairs hit a few snags along the way, but work finally seems to be nearing completion. "We expect to finish construction and reopen the bridge in October," PennDOT spokesman Eugene Blaum told Doylestown Patch. Built in 1851, the 12-foot-long stone arch bridge was severely damaged when Tropical Storm Lee swept through Bucks County in early September 2011, Blaum said. It was one of many bridges and roadways across Bucks that sustained damage during Lee, which followed …

The bridge on the border of Buckingham and Solebury was the detour firefighters used to avoid the closed Pineville Road bridge.
Traveling in the lower end of Buckingham Township got a little tougher last week when Bucks County officials had to close the bridge on Street Road over Pidcock Creek. The closure particularly concerns firefighters and other emergency responders because that was the bridge they were using while the Pineville Road bridge remained closed. Township officials are worried, too. "To emergency personnel, one closed bridge presents unacceptable response delays," Jon Forest, chairman of the township board of supervisors, said in a statement. "Two closed bridges cause delays that are a potential threat to life and property." Built in 1954, the bridge on Street Road is a steel I-beam span 28 feet long. The one-lane bridge has been on PennDOT's list…

Buckingham Township is covered by 3 fire companies- Lingohocken to the east, Midway north central and Doylestown southwest. Doylestown does not do a Santa run, as covering the over 25 miles of district (Doylestown Borough and Township, 1/3 of Buckingham, 1/2 of New Britian Borough and a small part of New Britian Township), is just not possible to cover it all. Buckingham Square is part of …   more ›
