Doylestown Declares Winter Storm Emergency as Storm Approaches

The declaration means people should not park on snow removal routes.

Doylestown Borough is asking people not to park on certain posted streets Friday night, so snow plows will have an easier time getting through town. Doylestown Borough Mayor Libby White on Friday morning declared a winter storm emergency. The declaration means people are asked not to park on posted snow routes after 6 p.m. Friday night. "Your cooperation will allow our plow crews to more effectively serve you," borough leaders said in a notification sent to residents on the borough's e-mail notification system. The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning for southeast Pennsylvania, including the Doylestown area at 3:20 p.m. on Thursday, predicting 4 to 8 inches of snow, with a trace of ice. A "potentially historic" winter storm is headed for the northeast and Bucks County is expected to be on the southern edge of it. Forecasts are still uncertain for the storm The Weather Channel has dubbed "Nemo," but weather experts are growing more certain that it is indeed on its way. Wednesday afternoon, the National Weather Service issued a "Hazardous Weather Outlook" for southeast Pennsylvania.  The forecast for the Doylestown area as of 7 p.m. Thursday: "A strong coastal storm is expected to affect the area Friday. A period of a wintry mix is possible, expected early Friday morning before changing to rain during the day. The rain will likely change back to snow Friday night. Some accumulation is possible. Gusty winds are also likely …
