Doylestown Goes to the Dogs - in a Good Way

An event Saturday is designed to promote merchants who open their doors to canine pets.

Victoria Schade wants people to know that more businesses in downtown Doylestown are more dog-friendly than they might realize. Many stores and restaurants in the commercial center have welcomed leashed pooches for years, she said, but it wasn’t actively promoted. “I knew, just from talking to other merchants, there were plenty of other stores in town who welcome animals,” she said. Stan’s Vitamins in town keeps a canister of doggie treats under its counter. The owner of Vintage brings her dog to work with her. So does Schade, which seems a given since she owns Life on the Leash, a store catering to the four-legged kind. While her store would be perfect for shopping with Fifi or Fido, there are at least 15 downtown merchants who would love…
