Originally Doylestown Township's main elementary school, this school opened in 1936, replacing previous schools serving the Edison area. It has undergone at least four additions and renovations in the decades since. In 1966, it was renamed in honor of the well-known, Central Bucks educator Paul W. Kutz. Today, it is one of 15 elementary schools in the Central Bucks District.
