Fonthill Cancels July 4th Celebration Due to Forecast

Forecasters are calling for a 60 percent chance of rain during the day Friday.

There will be no decorated bikes, watermelon eating contest, sack races or tug-o-war this July 4 in Doylestown.

Fonthill has cancelled its Old Fashioned July 4 Celebration due to impending rain. The annual event was scheduled for Friday, but a 60 percent chance of rain during the day has prompted organizers to cancel it ahead of time.

Weather.com predicts the showers will clear by early evening.

Fonthill, which announced the cancellation on its Facebook page, said they will still be hosting limited free indoor activities starting at noon. Regular admission guided tours of the castle will start at 11 am.

The Mercer Museum will also be open from 10 am to 5 pm Friday.
