V.I.A. Selects Spring Valley Farm for 2012 Designer House

Designers will transform the house and then open it to the public for tours.

Doylestown area home and garden designers are hard at work on plans for the next Bucks County Designer House and Gardens.

Spring Valley Farm, on Spring Valley Road outside Doylestown, will be the 37th Bucks County Designer House & Gardens. The Village Improvement Association of Doylestown selected the farm last month to be its next showcase.

The Designer House program is the main fundraiser for the V.I.A.; the money it raises is donated to Doylestown Hospital. This year's house proceeds will support ongoing renovations to the hospital's birthing center.

"The house has a wonderful sense of timeless tradition that fits beautifully with the V.I.A.'s mission," said Debbie Camiolo, 2012 Designer House chairwoman, in a statement. "Our theme for the house is 'Designed to Inspire.' We want to inspire creativity, but also caring, and community. Visitors will see incredibly creative displays of home and garden design, all while helping us care for our community's new babies."

A former working farm, physician's residence and office, Spring Valley Farm is a 1850s Dutch Colonial home set on 11 acres. Designers will enhance stately woodwork and fireplaces throughout the expansive home and landscapers will bring color and elegance to many planting beds, brick patios, pool and bank barn, the V.I.A. said.

Though the house doesn't open for tours until May 6, 2012, everyone involved will be busy behind the scenes in the months leading up to then.

Preview events include an Empty House Party on Sunday, March 4, 2012, and a Gala on Saturday, May 5. A Fashion Show and Brunch will also be held in May. House tours include access to free seminars, boutiques and the café.
