Legion Hosts Spaghetti Dinner

The dinner Saturday night will raise money to support the annual Easter Egg hunt, scholarship program and more.

A spaghetti dinner at the Doylestown American Legion hall on Saturday will raise money to support the chapter's programs and community events.

From the popular annual Easter Egg hunt on the grounds of Fonthill to the Legion-sponsored baseball team, the Legion members have dedicated much time and effort to the Doylestown community.

Now, they hope the community will turn out to support them.

"Years ago, we used to have turkey dinners," said Dell Campbell, commander of the Doylestown Legion post. "They were kind of legendary in the area, but as the membership aged, we weren’t able to do that any more."

"One of our members suggested we try a spaghetti dinner," he continued, adding that most people like spaghetti. "It's kind of universal."

Money raised from the fundraiser will go to support the Legion's activities. The post sponsors the community Easter Egg hunt on the grounds of Fonthill as well as the Tigers baseball team. It also gives out scholarships to high school seniors, Campbell said, and supports veterans programs.

The dinner is Saturday night at the . It runs from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.; cost is $8 per plate for adults, $6 for kids 6 to 12, and free for kids under 6.
