Historical Society to Hold Memorabilia Day

Have you got old Doylestown "stuff" you no longer want? The history buffs will take it off your hands.

Billie Shaw donated her dollhouse, which was featured in Doylestown's centennial parade in 1912, to the Doylestown Historical Society.

Now, the society is looking for more people who have pieces of history that they would like to share with the community.

On Saturday, April 28, the society will hold its fourth Doylestown Memorabilia Day. Administrator Fletcher Walls said the group is looking for anything and everything about Doylestown, including old photos, postcards, yearbooks, souvenirs, diaries, journals, programs, advertisements.

The event originally had been planned for October 29, but had to be cancelled when the region ended up getting an unseasonable snowstorm.

Since 1995, the Historical Society has dedicated itself to preserving the stories and artifacts and lobbying to protect the buildings and landmarks that make the borough unique.

Because the group is planning for Doylestown's bicentennial celebration, which kicks off on Memorial Day, the society is particularly interested in items that date to 1912, or even 1812, when the borough became the county seat of Bucks County.

Donations may be brought to the society’s barn at 56 S. Main Street from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 28.
