Help Win $100,000 for Doylestown Dog Park

Doylestown hopes for a shot at the grand prize in a national contest.

Calling all dog lovers: it's time to Bark for Your Park.

Doylestown is in the early stages of competing in a contest sponsored by pet product manufacturer PetSafe. The grand prize? $100,000 to build a dog park.

Supporters have only until June 1 to cast their votes that might propel the Doylestown dog park project to the fore.

"Get friends, family members, community leaders and everyone in your city to visit us online and log their support for a dog park," are the instructions for this part of the contest. "Tell us about how a PetSafe dog park would impact your city in a positive way. We want to see tons of community enthusiasm."

Friends of the Doylestown Dog Park are rallying support, trying to get the word out on Twitter, where you can follow them @DTownDogPark, and on their Facebook page.

But every vote is needed if Doylestown is going to have a real shot at the money - Corpus Christie, TX, had 243 comments to Doylestown's 18, as of Friday evening.

To vote and improve Doylestown's chances, click here. People can vote once a day, until the comment period ends June 1.

PetSafe produces a wide array of pet products, from safety items like fences to training aids such as collars.

Doylestown may have a leg up on some of the other contenders. Land has already been approved for the dog park, and local officials have given the project a green light.

The 15 contest finanlists will be announced July 13.
