Bicentennial Volunteers Honored

Doylestown's recent celebration of 200 years as the seat of Bucks County couldn't have happened without these dedicated volunteers.

From a fashion show to a talk on Teddy Roosevelt, from a cemetery history walk to a slideshow of Doylestown images, the recent celebration of Doylestown's Bicentennial had something fun for everyone.

But none of it would have been possible without the many volunteers who came together to plan the party.

This week, Doylestown Borough council members presented commemorative tiles thanking the bicentennial committee co-chairs Stu Abramson and Lynn Goldman for making the week-long event such a success.

In accepting the tile, Abramson said the many events held during the week that kicked off on Memorial Day were possible because of the dozens of people who stepped forward to organize the fun.

In planning for most big events, about 20 percent of the people do 80 percent of the work, Abramson said. But in the case of the Doylestown Bicentennial, dozens of volunteers stepped up.

Doylestown Mayor Libby White presented the tile to Abramson at Monday night's borough council meeting.
