SEPTA Tracks Farmers' Markets

If the Doylestown Farmers' Market has you hooked on fresh, locally grown produce and handmade goodies, SEPTA has some news that might interest you.

The public transit system has put together a new map showing the locations of local farmers' markets all around the Philadelphia area, including the suburbs.

SEPTA says the markets are within walking distance of local regional rail, bus, trolley or subway lines. Some even are based at SEPTA stations.

The map certainly is Philadelphia heavy, but also hits markets in towns wherever SEPTA runs lines.

Double check the information before you head out, as it isn't terribly detailed. The directions for Delaware Valley College - presumably, - don't indicate where to go from the college's train station.

And while the is, indeed, just a short walk from the Doylestown SEPTA station, the map also lists a farmers' market in Newtown - with directions to get off at the Doylestown station, but no more details after that.

Still, the map's existence does seem to bolster the theory that interest in locally grown food is on the rise.
