Forecast: Heat Wave Through the Fourth of July

A weather service alert is in effect for Doylestown through the weekend and up to Independence Day.

 

The National Weather Service is predicting highs at or above 90 degrees for the next week in the Philadelphia area, prompting an Excessive Heat Watch.

Issued Wednesday afternoon, the alert runs through 8 p.m. Sunday and covers Bucks, Montgomery, Chester, Delaware and Philadelphia counties.

The weather service predicts highs for Doylestown of 88 on Thursday, then 95 from Friday through Sunday. That is expected to be followed by a high of 92 on Monday before temps drop back down below 90 on Tuesday and Wednesday's Fourth of July holiday.

Bucks County government also issued an alert Wednesday, noting that "with the humidity of Friday, Saturday and Sunday, it will feel close to, if not above, 100 degrees."

Aside from a chance of rain Thursday night and Friday, virtually no precipitation is in the forecast.
