Fonthill will host its annual Old Fashioned Fourth of July Celebration next week. The celebration will be held July 4 from noon to 4 p.m. at Fonthill.

The day will feature games, food, crafts, entertainment and live music. Plus, the “visual splendor” of Henry’s Mercer’s estate will serve as the backdrop, according to the event’s website.

There will be watermelon eating contests, sack races, tug-o-war, bucket brigade relays, town ball (19th century baseball) and the popular cakewalk.

“You can also sit back and enjoy some stirring good old-fashioned patriotic music or participate in a craft activity. There will be a selection of vendors offering a variety of summer time snacks and treats, or you may bring your own picnic and spread a blanket on Fonthill’s grounds,” the website says.

Fonthill Castle will also be open for self-guided tours.
