Any Eagles fan would probably be able to tell you that the NFC East may not be the best division in the NFL this season. While that is true, the log jam that we have atop these standings consists of three teams with 8-6 records: the New York Giants, Washington Redskins, and Dallas Cowboys.
In this tight division race, I'm knocking the Giants out right away, because they play at Baltimore this week, which is a huge game for Baltimore because they could clinch the division with a win and a Bengals loss. Ray Rice and the defense is going to pull this game out in my opinion.
That leaves the Cowboys and Redskins. Dallas plays New Orleans, which should be a good game considering the Saints' horrendous defense but powerful offense. Washington play at Philadelphia this week, most likely resulting in a win if anything like the first meeting occurs again.
But the real beauty lies in if both these teams win. If that happens, they play each other in Washington the final week for the division title, which could be the only playoff spot available at that point. If this happens, I'm going with Washings ton. RG3 should be back by then, and I just love how they are pounding the ball with Alfred Morris. Plus, the defense is strong against the run. Sure, they may be suspect against the pass, but they do have 17 interceptions to their credit. And if their front seven can get to the QB quick enough, the passes may not even be thrown in the first place.
Take it as you see it. All this Eagles fan knows is that there is a great race in the NFC East this year, and the Eagles have rightfully earned their place to just sit back and watch who continues on this season.
