Doylestown Legion Presents Awards

From "Most Improved" to "Most Valuable Player," these young men went home winners.

Several young men went home with honors recently after the Doylestown American Legion Post 210 baseball team capped its 2011 season with an awards banquet.

The Doylestown Tigers, which finished second in the Bux-Mont American League with a 14-6 record, held an awards banquet in the at 315 North Street in Doylestown.

"Our awards luncheon went off very well. We had a great turnout of present and alumni players and families," said manager Steve Ruane. "This is becoming a wonderful event for us."

The following awards were presented at the luncheon:

First Team All Bux-Mont American Legion: Kristopher Davis, pitcher, and Matthew Hanson, outfield

Third Team All Bux-Mont American Legion: Clay Sebesky, catcher, and Matthew Martens, pitcher

Mel Wright Award: Matthew Hanson

Most Improved: Clay Sebesky

Most Valuable Pitcher: Kristopher Davis

Most Valuable Player: Matthew Hanson

Marylin Wright Award and $1,000 Scholarship: Matthew Hanson

Of Hanson, who was honored with four awards, Ruane said: "This young man is the epitome of what Legion baseball is all about. He was chosen by his teammates as the one young man who stood by his teammates, family, community and the veterans who sponsor our team and this scholarship. He is a wonderful young man in a Long line of deserving men who have won this award."
