Three-Year Contract Approved for Central Bucks Superintendent

David Weitzel will earn $215,000 the first year of the contract.

The Central Bucks School Board on Wednesday approved a three-year contract for Superintendent David Weitzel that includes an annual salary of $215,000.

The contract, which goes through October 2016, includes a 2.5 percent salary increase annually, provided Weitzel meets performance criteria.

Additionally, the contract includes medical coverage that will continue for five years after retirement.  Also upon retirement, Weitzel will be paid $50 per day for unused sick days, for a maximum amount of $7,500.

Weitzel must notify the district 150 days in advance if he plans to retire before the end of the contract.

Weitzel, who was appointed as acting superintendent in late July, will be paid at his new salary rate retroactively.

Before serving as superintendent, Weitzel was Central Bucks' assistant superintendent for elementary education. 

He was a principal at Warwick and New-Hope Solebury Elementary Schools before coming to Central Bucks.
