Students, Parents Upset Over CB East Coach's Firing

The district will not say why the school's field hockey and lacrosse coach was let go after just one season.

A group of parents and students attended the Central Bucks School Board meeting Tuesday to voice their opposition to what they believe was an unfair dismissal of the school’s field hockey and lacrosse coach after just one season.

Supporters of coach Dipi Bhaya have launched an effort to sway the district to reverse its recent decision to fire the coach. However, in a statement during Tueday’s meeting, Superintendent David Weitzel said the decision will stand. He said Bhaya was reviewed by three administrators, who decided to let her go.

Officials would not comment on why Bhaya was terminated. She had just completed her first season at Central Bucks East.

In addition to attending the school board meeting, a Facebook page, Support for Coach Bhaya, was created on Dec. 28.

"The girls that we have raised are strong, compassionate and better for knowing Dipi Bhaya. The parents that spoke tonight showed their daughters that truth does not fear the public eye," the page administrator wrote after the meeting.
