Kutz Kids Pay it Forward

First graders made pictures and blankets for hospital patients, and second graders collected pajamas for the Salvation Army.

Students at Kutz Elementary recently embarked on a heart-warming project that will bring warmth to patients at a Bucks County hospital.

In honor of Valentine's Day, the first graders held a party - but this party was about doing good for others, said teacher Michelle Blair.

The students created pictures and no-sew fleece blankets to deliver to patients at St. Mary Medical Center, Blair said.

"The first-graders were professional 'know-tie-ers' by the end of the party. They kept asking, 'Can we make more please?' " Blair said. "They really had a blast making these for the patients, and it made them feel good to "pay it forward."

Second graders at the school in Doylestown Township also held a "Pay it Forward" project.

They collected pajamas for the Salvation Army’s Jammin for Jammies project, Blair said.

The pajamas will be distributed to seven family shelters in Philadelphia. Many of the pajamas are paired with an age appropriate book to help promote literacy.
