District Mum on Superintendent's Departure, Special Meeting Set for Wednesday

The Central Bucks School Board will hold a special meeting Wednesday at 7 p.m. to discuss the employment of Superintendent Rodney Green, who will be leaving the district at the end of July.

The Central Bucks School Board will hold a special meeting Wednesday evening to discuss and possibly take action on the employment of Superintendent Rodney Green.

Late last week, the district announced Green would be leaving Central Bucks after less than one year of employment. The announcement, made on the district’s website, said the Central Bucks School Board and Green “mutually agreed” that his tenure as superintendent will conclude at the end of this month.

Meanwhile, district employees have been mum on the reason for the departure. Melanie Sullivan, the district's community relations coordinator, said Monday she had not been briefed on the matter. She said there is a district staff meeting planned for Wednesday morning to discuss the issue.

Wednesday’s board meeting, which is open to the public, will be held at 7 p.m. at the Central Bucks West School Auditorium, 375 West Court Street, Doylestown.

“The purpose of the special meeting will be to consider and possibly take action on personnel and labor relations matters. The public is welcome,” an announcement on the district's website said.

The school board hired Green in July 2012 and he began in October of that year. He came to the district from Michigan and had more than 20 years of experience as a superintendent.

His contract was not scheduled to expire until July 30, 2016, according to a report by the Courier Times.

“Dr. Green is thankful for the opportunity to lead the Central Bucks School District this past year. He wishes the school district well as it continues to provide the best possible education for the community’s children,” an announcement on the district’s website said.
