CB Ranked 9th in State

It was the only school district in Bucks County to crack the Top 10 in an annual review of districts statewide.

 

Central Bucks students ranked 9th this year in an annual review of state test scores, down one notch from the district's 8th place finish last year.

It was the only school district in Bucks County to crack the top 10 of Pennsylvania's 500 school districts.

Lower Merion ranked 8th this year, the only Montgomery County school district on the list. Other Philadelphia-area districts in the top 10 included Unionville-Chadds Ford and Tredyffrin-Easttown, both in Chester County, and Radnor in Delaware County.

The statewide district rankings are part of the Pittsburgh Business Times annual school guide. They were based on student scores on the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment exams.

The formula for the ranking takes into account three years of PSSA test scores in math, reading, writing and science, according to The Business Journals. Three years of scores are considered, with the current year given the most weight.

This year's rankings were released earlier this month.

Here are the top 10 school districts in Pennsylvania, according to this assessment, followed by the county in which they are located:

1. Upper St. Clair School District, Allegheny

2. Unionville-Chadds Ford School District, Chester

3. Tredyffrin-Easttown Township School District, Chester

4. Radnor School District, Delaware

5. Mt. Lebanon School District, Allegheny

6. North Allegheny School District, Allegheny

7. Hampton Township School District, Allegheny

8. Lower Merion School District, Montgomery

9. Central Bucks School District, Bucks

10. South Fayette Township School District, Allegheny
