The annual event at Doylestown's agricultural college is chock full of exhibits, animals, food and fun.

“Sow it, Grow it, Show it!” is the theme of this year’s A-Day at

The annual three-day event starts Friday and is packed with all sorts of fun, family-oriented things to do.

A-Day actually stands for Activity Day and was first held 63 years ago. Now, the student-run festival spans a weekend and involves members of 40 clubs on campus in every facet – from parking cars to cooking food to setting up and manning displays during the event.

Want to get up close to some live farm animals? Check that off the list, since there are always lots of cows, sheep, pigs and other furry or feathery creatures to see.

Need more stimulation? Make a stop at the milking demonstration, chemistry magic show, tree climbing or Wash-Tyme biofuel demos.

New at the Equestrian Center this year are lunging, stable horse breeds and colors, and horse-driving demonstrations.

And while we’re on the topic, make sure you check out the horse-drawn hayride, which has been revamped and takes riders on a relaxing trip to see all the campus sights.

Also new this year is a canine Frisbee demonstration (you may even learn some new tricks to teach your own dog).

Of course, some events you can count on seeing all day for all three days: the antique tractor show, pig races, plant sale, the trackless train, kid’s games and a whole lot more.

Visit DelVal’s website for a full schedule of A-Day events.

A-Day proceeds benefit student clubs and organizations as well as the A-Day Scholarship Fund.
