Save Kids Castle Casino Night Fundraiser a Great Success!

Roll the Dice for Kids Castle event raises more than $20,000 to help save Kids Castle

The Friends of Kids Castle would like to thank the community for its support of its recent Casino Night event. Many local businesses, organizations, and individuals made significant contributions to help ensure the fundraiser’s success. Two hundred and fifty guests attended the May 11 event held at Keenan Motors Mercedes-Benz in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, raising more than $20,000 to help refurbish Kids Castle, the beloved eight-story wooden structure located in Central Park in Doylestown Township.

An event like this takes a lot of work. Amy Price, Save Kids Castle fundraising advisor, can attest to that. “Roll the Dice for Kids Castle was a lesson in community building. Along with Keenan Motors, we literally had dozens upon dozens of donations pour in from local businesses throughout the community. Dave Mergen, owner of Just Foods in Buckingham, donated his personal catering services; Altomonte’s Italian Market and Bakery in Doylestown generously donated all of the fabulous food; and Bucks-Mont Party Rental in New Britain, who in the midst of their busy season, graciously donated all of the tables, chairs, and catering equipment we needed. It is through this type of support from our local business community that makes it easier to raise these much needed funds,” she said.

And most important, thank you to all of the incredible Save Kids Castle volunteers who worked very hard to make Casino Night a fun and successful community event!

The funds raised from this event will be used to order some of the new playground equipment needed for Phase 1 of the three-phase project. As of this writing, demolition to the out-of-date playground equipment has been completed, the turrets have been rewrapped with a colorful weather protection material, the outside of the castle has been power washed and stained, and some of the new flooring has been installed inside the castle.

Additional community funds and volunteers are needed to extend the life of the playground structure. Donations continue to be accepted on the SaveKidsCastle.org website. Checks can be mailed to Doylestown Township Kids Castle, 425 Wells Road, Doylestown, Pennsylvania 18901.

The Friends of Kids Castle hope to see the renovated castle ready to reopen later this summer for an unwrapping event.
