You're Invited to Party on the Parkway

Celebrate the opening of the long-awaited Route 202 Parkway with a chance to party before the cars come.

Doylestown and Montgomery Townships, in conjunction with the 202 Parkway Task Force, are hosting a "Party on the Parkway" before the roadway is opened to traffic.

You are invited to walk, bike or stroll the roadway and shared use path between the New Britain Road trailhead parking lot and Horsham Road on the morning of Sunday, September 9, 2012.

The "Party on the Parkway" will be a unique experience for the public to be on a roadway without traffic and gain an appreciation for all the hard work it has taken to make this project come to fruition.

So they're inviting people to do what everyone's already been doing for months?

I read an article a 10 days ago that they were planning this with no date. How about a little notice I was out of town all week and I read for the first time today that it is today. As usual both the government and the Intelligencer are a day too late for most people.

There's still no date for the official opening of the road, but this date - for the Party on the Parkway - has been known for some time. This story was originally published on Aug. 28. (the latest from PennDOT on the road opening is some time in October.)
