Streets to be Closed for Run in Doylestown

The 9/11 Heroes Run starts Sunday afternoon at Fonthill and will require the closure of several borough streets.

 

At 2 p.m. on Sunday, nearly 1,200 runners are expected to line up on East Court Street for the annual 9/11 Heroes Run through Doylestown.

Whether you want to head to the course to cheer them on, or whether you want to avoid the closed streets entirely, here is the course information:

  • Race starts on East Court Street near Belmont Court
  • Down East Court Street past the courthouse, onto West Court Street and past Borough Hall
  • Left on South Clinton Street
  • Left on West Oakland Avenue
  • Left onto North Main Street
  • Right onto East State Street
  • Down East State Street onto Maple Avenue
  • Right onto Spruce Street
  • Follow onto Linden Avenue and continue past Linden Elementary
  • Left onto Rohr Drive
  • Left onto Maple Avenue
  • Right onto East Street
  • Right onto East Court Street
  • Finish in front of Fonthill

Race Day Schedule:

  • 12 Noon: Motorcycle escort brings in Guests of Honor, Sgt. Adam Keys and his mother
  • 12:50 p.m.: Ceremony, with bagpipers, bugler, and a kids' ceremony
  • 1:45 p.m.: 1 Mile Family Fun Run
  • 1:55 p.m.: National Anthem 
  • 2 p.m.: 5K Race
  • 3 p.m.: Awards and Music

Begun in Doylestown in memory of late Marine Travis Manion, the 9/11 Heroes Run has now spread across the country and the world. About 50 runs are expected to be held this weekend at locations from San Diego to Boston; last year, a run even was held aboard the flight deck of the USS Hopper in the Persian Gulf.

Half the proceeds from this year's race will go to the Travis Manion Foundation, and the other half to a veterans' or first responders' charity in the local communities where the races are held.
