Seats Available on Doylestown Committees

Applicants must live within the municipal boundaries of Doylestown Borough.

Joe Flood is the latest face to join one of Doylestown Borough's volunteer committees, but the borough is looking for more folks just like him.

Borough Council recently appointed Flood, a Republican who failed last November to win on a seat on that very council, to sit on the borough's parks and recreation board. The term runs until December 2016.

Seats still are open on other volunteer committees, however, so the borough is once again accepting applications from those interested in having a say in their town government.

Opportunities are available for both adults and students.

The borough needs adult volunteers to fill seats on the bike and hike committee and the environmental advisory council.

Teen volunteers are needed for the parks and recreation board, Fanny Chapman pool board and the historic architecture and review board. The junior member seat on Borough Council now held by Jacob Bell also will need filling.

Those interested may apply by mail to Doylestown Borough Hall, 57 W. Court St., Doylestown, PA 18901, care of John Davis, manager. Applications are due by May 31.

Please note, it's not enough that your mailing address says "Doylestown." Applicants must actually live within the borough's municipal boundaries.

"All of these (seats) require people to be residents of the borough," Davis said. "Students put in a lot of time and effort only to discover that they are not eligible."
