Power Going Out in Doylestown Next Week

If you're going to lose power, PECO has promised to notify you beforehand.

Electric service will be going out to parts of Doylestown next week, but officials aren't publicly saying where - and for good reason.

PECO has notified Doylestown Borough officials where the outages will be. The company will notify business owners and residents that are on the list about the outage, borough manager John Davis said Thursday.

But there's no need for the general public to know which places will be out of service, especially in light of a recent spate of robberies around town, officials said.

PECO has planned four separate outages, each in an eight hour window, the week of October 3, Davis said. Another outage is planned for the week of October 10.

Businesses and residents that will be affected will get a letter from PECO outlining the details, Davis said. That will be followed by an automated phone call 48 hours before the outage, and a door hanger notice on the property 24 hours before the outage.

The outages are planned so PECO crews can continue inspecting electric lines and equipment in Doylestown. The borough has been plagued by repeated power outages since last winter.
