Pa. Unemployment Rate Drops to 6.4% in January

The commonwealth's unemployment rate is slightly better than the country's as a whole.

Pennsylvania’s unemployment rate has fallen to 6.4 percent, the state announced Friday.

The Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry on Friday released state unemployment statistics for January 2014, the most recent month for which they are available.

The numbers show that in January, Pennsylvania’s unemployment rate was slightly better than the nation’s, which was 6.6 percent.

Pennsylvania’s January 2013 unemployment rate was 7.8 percent; the December 2013 rate was 6.8 percent.
