Drivers may face occasional lane closures on several state roads in Bucks and Montgomery counties this week for construction of the Route 202 Parkway, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said.
PennDOT is in the final stages of building the 8.4-mile-long Parkway between Montgomeryville and Doylestown. The new $200 million roadway is scheduled to open later this fall.
The ongoing installation and testing of traffic signal equipment, installation of overhead signs and other activities will cause short-term, flagger-controlled lane closures Monday through Thursday (Sept. 17-21) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the following locations:
• Route 202 (Doylestown Road/Butler Avenue) between Route 309 (Bethlehem Pike) in Montgomery Township and Route 611 in Doylestown Township;
• Route 309 (Bethlehem Pike) between the Five Points Intersection in Montgomery Township and Route 63 (Welsh Road) in Lower Gwynedd Township;
• Upper State Road between Route 309 (Bethlehem Pike) in Montgomery Township and Route 202 (W. Butler Avenue) in Doylestown Township; and
• Route 611 Bypass between Turk Road and Limekiln Pike in Doylestown Township.
Final paving and other road construction at the southern end of the Parkway in Upper Gwynedd, Lower Gwynedd and Montgomery townships, Montgomery County, will slow travel on Route 202 (DeKalb Pike) between Swedesford and Knapp roads and on Route 63 (Welsh Road) between Stump and North Wales roads on Monday through Friday (Sept. 17-21) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
PennDOT’s contractor widened both Route 202 (DeKalb Pike) and Route 63 (Welsh Road) to four lanes, with turn lanes at their intersection, to improve traffic flow to and from the Parkway.
Pickertown Road remains closed between Upper State and Stump Roads in New Britain and Warrington townships for construction of the bridge over the Parkway.
Motorists should anticipate delays and add extra time for travel through the construction areas. All planned activities are contingent on the weather.
